Research Associate-Fixed Term (Postdoc)

The Laboratory of Adam Lauver, Ph.D. is looking for qualified postdoctoral researcher candidates in the areas of nephrology, acute kidney injury and drug-induced nephrotoxicity.

The Lauver Laboratory is part of the Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.  

Postdoctoral positions are available for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who will be expected to use cell-based high throughput assays and animal models to investigate the biological mechanisms underlying contrast-induced acute kidney injury with the intent of translating the findings into potential drug discoveries.

Candidates will work with Dr. Lauver and his research team to identify areas of interest and expertise that will facilitate the use
of exisiting rabbit models to reach an overall project objective of improving human health.

Qualifications:

• A recent Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) with experience and strong first-author publications in pharmacology, toxicology, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology or cardiorenal-related fields.
• An ideal candidate will have experience with research techniques including cell culture, protein biochemistry, RNA/DNA work and/or animal models of human disease.
• A highly organized and detail-oriented scientist with high training potential and strong written and oral communication skills.
• A driven individual who is able to exhibit exceptional research productivity and take responsibility for the independent management of the project and the coordination of multi-institutional collaborations.
